Today we started the lesson with the oral activity. Then I gave you photocopies with ocabulary about the environment and we worked with them. Next week we're going to continue with this topic.

Today we checked the homework. We read the reading on page 91 about SUPERVOLCANO and ckecked exercise number 3. Then we checked  exercise number 1 on page 115. We did the oral acitivity that you'll find on page 87(exercise 3).

HOMEWORK: Go to page 151 and do the exercxise about DISCUSSION-DILEMMAS. Using the 2nd type of conditional sentences discuus about the 4 points you find there.

On Wednesday we'll start with it and ther will be a disscussion with your ideas and opinios.

FOR NEXT MONDAY/TUESDAY (3/4.5.2010) do the writing you find on page 115 (5). You have to create your autobiography.

Today we checked the exercise about the 2nd Conditional sentences. Then we started unit 11 and we did exercises 1 (on page 86. First we read the text about The global village). We also did exercises 1 and 2 on page 87 and the listening activity on page 89 (2). I gave you a photocopy about the GLOBAL PROBLEMS.

HOMEWORK: Go to page 91 and read the text called Supervolcano. Then do exercise number 3 on page 90. Go to page115. Do exercise number 1 and read the text about DAVID HEMPLEMAN-ADAMS

Hello. I'm so sorry but I had problem with my PC and I couldn't write the Classroom Diary yesterday. But here I am. It's never too late.
On Tuesday we worked with the vocabulary related with the GIVING DIRECTION. The we did the listeneing activity on page 77 (number 5).
I told you about the SECOND CONDITIONAL SENTENCES and we did exercises number 1 and 2 on page 141. I also gave you a photocopy with vocabulary about THE WEATHER.
Please, do the writings about ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES and also the one abou GIVING DIRECTIONS. They can be useful for your exams.

Today you gave me the writings about GIVING DIRECTIONS  and ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES. We worked with the vocoulary about giving directions and we did exercises 1,2 and 5 on page 77.

- Do another writing: Write a letter or email to a friend telling him/her that you moved because you bought a new house. Describe the new house and tell him/her how to get there using the vocabulary about GIVING DIRECTIONS

I gave a photocopy with THE PARTS OF THE BODY(if you go to the extra listening link, you'll find a listening about THE PARTS OF THE BODY).

HOMEWORK:  Go to page 112 and read the writing about ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF TRAVELLING BY TRAIN.

Write a similar composition. You have ideas on exercise number 5 but you can write about any other topic you like.

Today we did some activities from the book. On page 133 we did exercises 1,2,4 and 5. Remember you have to read the GRAMMAR POINT you have on page 132(5.1 about the VERB PATTERN  and 5.2 about the FUTURE FORMS). Then I gave you photocopies related to THE HEALTH and we worked with them in the classroom.

HOMEWORK: From the set of photocopies I gae to you, you have to check the vocabulary about HOW ARE YOU FEELING TODAY?. Then, read the information you find on the photocopy about the ADJECIVES ENDING IN -ED AND -ING nd do the activities on the back of the page. Go to your book and on page 44 read the VOCABULARY SPOT  and do exercise number 3. Onpage 42 and 43 you have a text. Read it and do exercises 2, 4 and 7 (page 42).

Today we checked the homework and we did some activities from the book. We did exercises 1,2 and 4 on page 133. Don't forget to read the information about the verb pattern (5.1) and the future forms (5.2) you find on page 132 and 133. Then I gave you photocopies about HOW ARE YOU FEELING TODAY? and photocopies with vocabulary related to ILLNESS. And we also talked about  the adjectives ending in -ED  or  ending in -ING.

HOMEWORK: Go to page 44 and do exercise number 3 after having reading the VOCABULARY SPOT.

Then do the photocopy about adjectives -ED or -ING I gave to you (first read the explanations you'll find in the photocopy) and study the vocabulary that you learn today.

Go to page 42 and 43 and there you have a READING. Read the text and do exercises 2,4 and 7.

Don't forget you have the test about the book HOW TO BE AN ALIEN on April,14th.

Hi. Today we staretd UNIT 5 and we did some exercises from the book. Please go to page 132 and 133 and read the information about thr FUTURE FORM (5.2). In the classroom we did exercise 3 on page 133. Then we continued with the future and on page 40 we did exercises 1 and 2 and exercise 1 on page 41. The student worked in pairs and they did WHAT ARE YOU DOING TONIGHT? which is a speaking activity. On page 38 we studied some VERB PATTERNS and we did activities 1 and 2. Remember that at the end of th ebook(page 119) you have the tapescrips so it'd be a good idea if you read the text and underline the VERB PATTERNS you can find there.

Hi. I'm back from London. Today we started UNIT 5 which is about the FUTURE FORMS: BE GOING TO, WILL AND PRESENT CONTINUOUS. Please go to page 132 an read the information you find on 5.2 about the future forms. In the classroom we did exercise 3 an 5. Then on page 40 we did exercises 1 and 2 and also activity 1 on page 41. After on page 38 we did activities 1 and 2. Remember you have the tapescript on page 119. Have a look to it. Read it aloud and underlie the VERB PATTERNS you find(for example: I'm looking fordward to hearing from you, i lik atching TV, I'd like to watch to be, etc....)

Today we continued with Unit 7. We talked about the differences between the PRESENT PERFECT and THE SIMPLE PAST . Please go to page 135 and read 7.2. We did exercise number 5 on page 136. Today we started UNIT 7 with the PRESENT PERFECT. We read the information about its use on page 135 (we read points 1,2 and 3).

HOMEWORK: Go to page 135 and 136 and do exercises 1,2 and 3. Then go to page 110. Do exrcise number 1 and 2. Read the formal letter and pay attention to the different parts of the letter. Then go to page 11 and do exercise number 5. You have to read the email. Then do exercise number 6. That is write a formal letter and and email to a friend. Follow the instruction on exercise 6.

We also did the activities on page 53. Remember that at the end of the book you have all the tapescripts from the dialogues. It'd be a good idea you read them carefully so you can improve your vocabulary.

Hi. Today we started a new Unit. In Unit 7 we're going to study the PRESENT PERFECT. Please go to page 135 and read the inforation about the present perfect(but read just 7.1) Then we did exercises 1, 2 and 3.

HOMEWORK: Do exercise number 4 on page 136. Then go to page 110 and do exercise 1 and 2 and read the formal letter you have there. After go to page 111 and do exercise 5. Read the email and compare the formal and inforal expressions. You have to do exercise number 6. WRITE A FORMAL LETTER AND AN EMAIL TO AN EGLISH FRIEND. Follow the examples given.

You have to give the writings next Monday (March,8th).

Welcome!!!! Today we finish UNIT 4. We did the listening activities on page 36 (4.6) and on page 37 (4.9). Remember that at the back of your book you have the tapescripts. It'd be a good idea that you read them aloud after having listened to them. Today you also did the description of the pictures that are on page 36. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

HOMEWORK: You have to write a postcard. Go to page 106 and read the example you have there. Then go to exercise number 4 and write a postcard to an English friend as if you were still on holidays. Use the adjective NICE just once.

Welcome!!!!!! Today we finished UNIT 4 and we did the activities on page 37. We also did the exercises on page 53 (1 and 2 and the listening activity 6.15). Remember that at the end of the book you have the tapescripts so it'd be a good idea that you read it after having listened to it and read them aloud to practice. Don't forget that you have to do the writing on page 106 (write a postcard). This composition you had to give to me 2 weeks ago but due to the bad weather (the school was closed) and the Carnival holidays you had to do it today. Some of you did so THANK YOU. I will pick the rest next Wednesday. So don't forget to do it!!!!!!

Next day we're going to start with the PRESENT PERFECT so please study the list of the irregular list. You already know the present and past form and now you have to satydy the last column which is the past participle.

Today we checked the photocopies about food you worked with during the weekend. We continued with unit 4.We did the listening activities on page 30 and 31 and you talk using the partitives a tube of toothpaste, six rolls of toilet paper, etc...
HOMEWORK: You have to do the two photocoipies about QUANTITIES I gave to you today. Then go to page 36. There you can see 4 different pictures. Choose one and describe it. It's an speaking activity for the next lesson. You have to describe the picture, what you can see, where you can do or buy in that place, describe the people(appearance, clothes). In order to help with this activity, do exercise 2 on page 36. You have words and you have to place them in the box taking into account the things you can see or use in a chemist's, a café, a post office, a clothes shop.

Hi. Today we checked the photocoipies with the information about food. You described the pictures on page 36. WELL DONE!!!!! And we also did the listening activity on page36(3). Remember you have the tapescripts at the end of the book. It's important you read the dialogues and practice them aloud.
HOMEWORK: Writing for next Wednesday(February,17th). Go to page 106. You have to write a postcard following the example you have on the book. Then read exercise number 4 on page 36 where you have a guide about how to do the writing.

Dear Students. Today we checked the homework about quantfiers. Go to the links about quantifiers, much, many, some, any, someone/anyone..., difinite and indefinite articles and practiced them. I gave to you photocopies to work with them at home. There are a lot of vocabulary about different kind of food. Check th links about FOOD (they might help you). Do them and we'll check on Tuesday.

Today we continued with unit 4 and we did some of the exercises that are on the photocoipies I gave to you. It's all vocabulary so you have to study it.

HOMEWORK : Do the activities on the photocopies that we didn't have time to finish(go to the links about FOOD, they might help you). Go to page 36. You have to choose one of the pictures and describe it. It's going to be a speaking activity. I want you to look at the picture and talk about it (describe the people you can see there, where they are, what they are doing, what kind of things you can do at those places, etc). Follow the instructions you can find on exercise 1 but don't forget about the physical description. Then you can also do exercise 2 on page 36. There are some words and you have to group them taking into account the place where you can find those things.

Hi students. The blog is back. Today I showed you the results of the exams. Meanwhile you did a reding activity from the book. On page 35 you read the texts and then you answered some questions which were on exercise 4 on page 34.

next week we're going to start with Unit 4 where you are going to learn how to use QUANTIFIERS (some, any, lot of, little, etc...).

Have a look to what we've been doing until now. Prectice some of the exercises and do the listenings. There is a link about the BBC and the CNN for you to listen and read the news. I hope you use them a lot.

Today we started Unit 4 where you're going to learn how to use the QUANTIFIERS. On Page 131, we read the grammar points 1 and 2 and the information about MUCH/MANY, SOME/ANY, A FEW /A LITTLE, A LOTLOTS OF. We did the exercises on page 132 number 1,2 and 3.

We also talked about the use of someone/somebody; anyone/anybody; noone/nobody; something, anything, somewhere.

Today we worked with the photocopies I gave to you about School days.

And we practiced the Past Simple. As homework for Monday, you have to write a composition of about 130-200 words about your School Days. You have to use the Simple Past and Pas Continuous and the vocabulary we've been studied. You have to write about your school, favourite teacher, favourite subject, which subject you were good/terrible at, if you were fond of any of your teachers, wgich subject were you interested in or both with, etc....

REMEMBER that you're coming on Friday. We're going to start with an oral activity. You have to compare the Spanish education system with the irish one.(Have a look to exercise number 1 on the photocopy called Irish School)

Today we did the activity on page 103. It's an email where we fiiled the gaps with SO, BECAUSE, ALTHOUGH, BUT and HOWEVER.

Do the activities and read the email you'll find on page 103 (6) and then write an email as it's said on exercise number 7.
