October, 27th /28th

Hi. Today we checked the reading activity on page 10 and then we listened to the CD. First it was Matt who talked about his blind date with Beth and after it was Beth the one who talked. Remember you can find the tapescripts on page 116 (1.6/1.7).
On page 13 you have EVERYDAY ENGLISH. We did exercise 1 and talked about intonation and stress. HOMEWORK: Page 13 activity 3. You have to match an expression in A with one in B and read aloud the sentences in order to practice the stress and intonation.

WHAT'S YOUR STAR SIGN?
Today I gave you a photocopy with the star signs and some adjectives that describe their personality. Please study them. The students in small groups talked about their star sign and if they agreed or disagreed with the adjectives used to define their personality.
HOMEWORK: read BLIND DATE on pages 10/11. And then answer the questions you'll find on page 10 exercise 3 about Matt.

Today we have been talking about the star signs. I have given a photocopy with some adjectives that describe the personality taking into account the star sign. We also read the text on page 10 and 11 called BLIND DATE.
HOMEWORK: Reread the text and do exercise 3 on page10. You have to read the questions and answer them.

Hi! Thank you for coming!!!!!!. Today we worked with the book. We did the listening activities on page 7 (number 3) and the one you can find on page 9 (number 2).
We continue practice how to make interrogative sentences with WH-QUESTIONS. We took as an example exercises 1 and 2 on page 7.
I'm so sorry because we didn't have time to check the homework. We're going to do it on Monday. You can find these exercises on page 127 (1,2,3 and 4). Don't forget to read the grammar reference first.

Today I gave two photocopies with more adjectives that help you to describe people taking into account their apearance. The students described themselves (character and appearence).
HOMEWORK: you have to do the exercises you are going to find in the photocopy called WHAT....LIKE?. You'll practice the questions:

Hi. How are you after so many days without English lessons?
Today we have practiced how to make questions in English. You need to review a lot. Go to the links WH-QUESTIONS and QUESTION WORDS and do the activities I've found surfing on Internet.
HOMEWORK: Go to page 127. You'll find the GRAMMAR REFERENCE. Read carefully 1.1 about TENSES and 1.2 about QUESTIONS and do exercises 1,2,3 and 4.

DESCRIBING CHARACTER

Today I gave the students two photocopies with adjectives that help us to describe people's character: clever, lazy, stupid, funny, unkind, shy, friendly, boring, naughty, lovely, mean, patient, rude, polite, silly, sensible, selfish, generous, impatient.
(She's naughty)

If you want to ask about people's character, you ask:

WHAT'S YOUR SISTER LIKE?
SHE'S CLEVER AND GENEROUS.

If you want to know people's appearance, you ask:

WHAT DOES SHE LOOK LIKE?
SHE'S TALL AND SHE'S GOT LONG HAIR.

If you want to ask about likes and dislikes, then you ask:

WHAT DOES SHE LIKE?
SHE LIKES READING AND WATCHING TV.

Then the question: WHO DO YOU LOOK LIKE? I LOOK LIKE MY MUM gives you information about which member of your family has a similar appearance. Please go to page 134 and read carefully 6.1 What....like?

Today we've been working with the book. We did exercise 2 on page 8 and the listening activity on page 9 about BEST FRIENDS. REMEMBER that the tapescripts of the listenings are at the end of the book. We also precticed how to make questions using the question words.
HOMEWORK: Write a composition about yourself. Take the text on page 6 about Marija Kuzma.

QUESTION WORDS


Hello, how are you?
Today we've been working with the book. We checked exercise 1.1 with the verbal tenses and we listened to the CD in order to complete the questions about Jim on exercise 3 (page 7). As an oral activity we talked about ourselves. Students, in groups of 4, asked and answered questions such as Where do you live?, Who do you live with?, What do you like doing at weekend?, What did you do last weekend?, etc....

October, 5th / 6th




Hi everyone. I hope you're ok. Today we checked the photocopy with the exercises about BE GOING TO. We started with the book.
ON MONDAY 5TH: We did exercise 1 in STARTER and we also did exercise 1 in TWO STUDENTS. Students completed the text and then they listened to the CD. The GRAMMAR SPOT is about question words. We did exercise 3 and used them together with the future in an oral activity(go to the links Question words and Wh- questions and practice them)
HOMEWORK: Write a composition talking about yourself. Take as an example the text you find on page 6.
REMEMBER that on Wednesday,October 7th and ON Monday, October 12th there are not classes.

ON TUESDAY 6TH: We did exercise 1 in STARTER and exercise 3 in GRAMMAR SPOT. This exercise is about question words. We use them and the future tense in an oral activity(go to the links Question words and WH- questions and practice them)
HOMEWORK: Go to page 6 and do exercise 1 in TWO STUDENTS. You have to complete the text using the verbs in the box. On Thursday we're going to check and do this listening activity.

I'M GOING TO.....

Today we have practised the pronunciation of -ED. After I have given a photocopy to the students with information about I'M GOING TO..... You have to read the photocopy and do the exercises.
We use I'M GOING TO + INFINITIVE FOR THE FUTURE when we talk about things we have decided to do in the future or in order to predict the future using information we know.
We form BE GOING TO like this:

AFFIRMATIVE

I'm going to buy
You're going to buy
He's going to buy
We're going to buy
They're going to buy

NEGATIVE

I'm not going to sleep
You aren't going to sleep
he isn't going to sleep

INTERROGATIVE

Are you going to read?
Is she going to buy?
Are we going to eat?

Next day we're going to check the exercises and practise the use of I'M GOING TO.....
